Types Of Industrial Cleaners & Their Uses

When you hire us or work with any other commercial cleaning company, it's indispensable to use the right industrial products to clean your workplaces. In this blog, we'll talk about different sanitary products and how they maintain the cleanliness of your commercial area.

Water-Based Cleaners

Water-based solutions and industrial supplies contain water as primary ingredients. They typically come in large containers, and you use a mop or brush to clean the surface with them. You can characterize these products into two types based on their pH. Both sanitary products are used for different types of cleaning.
Products on the acidic side range from 0-7 on a pH scale. Your janitorial staff uses acidic cleaners to clean the toilet, bathtub, and sink. Mainly those surfaces that come in contact with hard water, soap, and scum. Acidic products contain hydrochloric acid, which effectively kills bacteria and microbes at commercial places.

Another side of the spectrum is alkaline products that range from 8-14 on a pH scale. They are further categorized into three types of chemicals: strong, medium, and mild alkaline solutions.
  • Strong alkaline sanitary products are harsh and hazardous products.
  • Medium solutions are less harmful but caustic, whereas mild alkaline solutions are the least harmful.
  • Alkaline solutions are better suited for combating grease and oily surfaces.

Water based cleaners can contain harmful ingredients. However, the base ingredient, water, has no toxic properties and is essential for human life.
Because an aqueous base isn’t a guarantee that a cleaner’s blended chemicals are harmless, choose your solution carefully. For the sake of human safety and the environment, target a solution that is “environmentally safe” or “environmentally preferred”.

Solvent Cleaners

Solvent cleaners consist of different chemical compounds, and they clean contamination by dissolving and removing it. They remove unwanted grease, oil, a paint spill on surfaces.

Solvent cleaners also have acidic and alkaline nature depending on their pH.

There is more than one type of solvent, and each type is best suited for different types of material. Your cleaners use specific solvents for chrome, wood, and steel. While some solvents are all-purpose and are dilute enough to be used for all kinds of surfaces. From an economic point of view, you might assume using an all-purpose solvent sanitary cleaner is ideal. However, it cannot remove all types of stains and marks.
Despite their differences, solvent-based sanitary products use two types of processes while cleaning the surface. One in which solvent vaporizes called degreasing; and one process where it doesn’t, is known as cold cleaning. Environmental regulations are a dominant factor for your cleaning staff to choose these processes.

Abrasives

Your cleaning staff uses abrasive industrial products to clean hard stains like food and grime. They are gritty materials and clean surfaces by rubbing and creating friction with the surface. Abrasive material includes steel wool, sandpaper, and nylon mesh.

You should carefully use these types of industrial products, as they can damage your kitchen counter and steel products.
